A new chapter in the book.....

With our common long experience in Shelties and breeding - a new chapter started in 2004.  We put down our respective breed-prefixes and asked for a common new one,  and that was accepted by FCI early 2005. The first Croft-litter was already born in October 2004, the next in December same year. Both set on waiting-registration until the new prefix was ready.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Arnhild had built up a bitch-line containing 6 generations, and 3 bitches from her Kennel Sheltibo made the basis to work further from in Kennel Croft. It had by the generations became a good, stabile line both in size, type and temper.  7 th. generation was  born from this line in Kennel Croft in 2005. From the foundation-queen the bitch line was split into three directions. One blue line straight out, made from sable lines in the past. And two sable/tri lines crossed-out with different borrowed studs, and with cross-backs later. We have also access to Arnhild`s German import-line from Silver Shadow, but not at home.

Because of the long experience and knowledge about the breeding-material, we had a good start with our new prefix. 
We started both out with the old-fashion English type of Sheltie and will achieve to keep this type going for the future, of course with some moderation during the years. The often seen modern type of English type we don`t want, when they don`t fit our picture of the neat, but sturdy, sweet and balanced sheltie.Since we started a bi-colour program in 2005, we will bring in some American lined dogs for matings, and have already done with a pleasant result.

We also needed something new in the bitch-stock, to be able to cross-breed a bit in the future. That is the most important when you start a certain colour-program. Therefore we bought a beautiful blue merle female before Christmas 2005. She has also one American line in her pedigree....not so much...but it was one of the reasons that we wanted her so much. She has a very exciting pedigree to bring with us in the bi-colour-program. She can possible be a bi-colour carrier...time will show.

Kennel Croft`s breed-stock contains 4 wonderful, steady bitches at home Mars 2007, one blue merle, one tricolour (bi-factored), two sables (one possible bi-factored).

Newyear 2006/2007 Kennel Croft has already had 12 litters under the new prefix...so it has been two active years with a lot of fun.

 

Kennel Croft has also a bird-dog, a Drentsche Patrijshond.

The future is exciting, and we are ready to meet new challenges on our breeding-path.
